Question Knitting/crochet wire jewellery

Has anyone tried to crochet or knit with 9 ct yellow 0.25 mm round wire and have you been succesful?

I have done some crochet/knitting jewellery with craft coloured wires size 0.315 mm and was very satisfied with the results. I hear that silver wire is also very adaptable in these thicknesses and particularly fine silver but I wonder about the 9 ct gold.

I would be grateful if anyone could advise me on that matter.

Thank you
Tiska

The information i have looked at suggests that it is best to use between 0.2mm and 0.5mm wire to knit with and to use two strands of thiner wire if you want any thicker. If you use finer wire it will be too delicate and either break while knitting or when you are wearing the finished piece.

Fine silver wire is more flexible than sterling silver which is inclined to be brittle and break.

I would recomend trying with some craft wire first as it is inexpensive and then move on to using silver or gold when you are happy with the results. It is important when knitting with wire not to over stress it as it will become brittle and break.

I hopw that is of some help to you
